The Curse of Potter

It appears that those closest to young wizard Harry Potter, 15, are the ones who suffer most from his ill-fated duels with the Dark Lord. The entirety of the wizarding world knows the story of his parents tragic deaths at the hands of You-Know-Who, but very few are aware that Lily and James Potter were not the only ones to have suffered because of You-Know-Who's obsession with young Harry.

Unbeknowst to many of us until this year, when anonymous sources were finally able to reveal long concealed details, that You-Know-Who had attempted to reach Potter before his ultimate resurrection over a year ago. In various guises, Voldemort had attempted to attack Potter--and, as the Dark Lord had done with his parents so long ago, hurt those Potter cared about.

In his first year, Potter fought with You-Know-Who at the end of the year and came out on top. However, it was his best friend, Ronald Weasley, who sacrificed himself so Potter could win. Anonymous sources confirm that Weasley was simply knocked unconscious for a few hours, but nothing can be taken too lightly when it comes to dealing with the Dark Lord.

During the boy wizard's second year, the once rumored Chamber of Secrets was opened and from it, a deadly creature known as a basilisk was set loose upon the school to torment innocent Muggleborn students. Almost like the climatic point in a novel, a student had finally been taken hostage by the creature of the Chamber, and none other than Harry Potter saved her. Ginny Weasley was reported only to be very shaken and scared, but nothing some rest wouldn't cure. But we'd like to stress once again that nothing can be taken lightly, when the Dark Lord is involved.

"Ron" Weasley is once again involved in the adventure during Potter's third year. Weasley broke his leg when he, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger ran into exconvict Sirius Black. He's rumored to have been connected with You-Know-Who, although early reports indicate that Black might not have been as dangerous, and that the man he was accused of murdering, Peter Pettigrew, might still be alive.

Maybe Harry is supposed to go on these crazy expeditions, but in no way was he supposed to be included in the Triwizard Tournament that was held during his fourth year. Perhaps he's a "limelight hogging git," as a platinum-haired Hogwarts pupil tells us? Whatever the reason, the Dark Lord was once again after Potter, but this time, You-Know-Who actually managed to kill someone. Young Cedric Diggory was a mere pawn and he fought well, but in the end, it was Harry that walked through once again.

And on to his fifth year, a very original year when it comes to battles with the Dark Lord. Young Harry Potter was drawn to the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic and it was there that he fought the Dark Lord and his minions. Along with him, he had help from several of his Hogwarts peers and many older witches and wizards, but still, Potter's own godfather, the aforementioned Sirius Black ended up, the Quibbler has confirmed, dying.

Have we not said that nothing can be taken lightly when dealing with You-Know-Who?

And the macabre question on the tips of many Quibbler readers is: Who's next? Undercover Quibbler staff went investigating and many people have made it onto our list, but the one who topped them all was former Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Remus Lupin.

We're sure many readers are Hogwarts students who admire the former professor, but we wouldn't state something so boldly without evidence. After researching far back into history, Remus Lupin is in a way connected to Roman history.

Long ago, there was a set of twins: Remus and Romulus. (NOTE: Lupin's first name is REMUS.) The two of them and their mother were thrown into the Tiber River. Their mother drowned, but a she-wolf rescued the twin babies and raised them as her own cubs. (NOTE: LUPINE means something wolf-like and Remus Lupin is a werewolf.)

One day, the twin children were spotted by Faustulus, the king's shepard. Faustulus took them home and named them Remus and Romulus (obviously). Later when Remus and Romulus had grown into strong young men, their commonfolk parents told them where they'd been found. After hearing the details, Remus and Romulus set out to find the place where the she-wolf had nursed them and chose that very place to make a town. Like any town, it needed a name. Remus and Romulus had a bet and Romulus won. The town was named Roma (Rome) and since Romulus had won the bet, it was said that no one could pass the town's boundary without Romulus' consent. However, Remus jumped over the boundary to poke fun at his twin brother and cried out, "See? It's easy!" Romulus didn't think it was so funny however, and flung himself at his twin brother and murdered him. So poor Remus was killed by his brother, Romulus.

How does this tie in with anything at all?

Well, Remus (from Rome) was killed by his own brother, and Remus Lupin's only brother-like figures are the Marauders. Now let's think: What is lethal to a werewolf? SILVER. Let's think once again... who's the one rumored (by Harry Potter) to have a shiny new silver arm, was a Marauder, and is working for You-Know-Who? Peter Pettigrew, formerly known as Wormtail.

Therefore, it is logical to predict that Remus Lupin will die soon if he sticks around Harry Potter any longer. Lupin will truly be missed if he's killed.

Though Potter seems to have a bout of contagious bad luck following him around, let's hope our research, for once, has gone to waste, as it would be horrible to lose someone else to the Dark Lord. But, after all, well...no one should take the Dark Lord lightly!
