Sirius Black to be honored in Memorial Service A Memorial Service for Sirius Black, formerly known as the Prisoner of Azkaban, will be held Friday, June 13, at an undisclosed location. Mr. Black died under mysterious circumstances. Unconfirmed reports claim he was injured during a battle with his estranged cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange, in the corridors of the Ministry of Magic. Although sources have yet to reveal the exact cause of death, several eyewitnesses report having seen Mr. Black “pass through the veiled doorway to death” (hypothetically, of course). “It was terrifying. Absolutely horrible,” recalls one source, who wishes only to be known as “Moony”. “She just struck him, then...he fell back...and he was gone. Everyone was shocked. He didn’t deserve to die like that.” Mr. Black has long been known as the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he was being held after being convicted of treason and murder. However, due to the sudden reappearance of You-Know-Who, and the bringing to light of new evidence, those convictions are being reconsidered. Long thought a threat to Harry Potter, anonymous sources recently revealed that Black was actually protecting Potter against You-Know-Who, and that this protection led to his tragic death. If Black is found innocent of all charges, he will be awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class, along with a medal of Honor from the Minister of Magic and papers clearing him of his crimes and releasing him officially from Azkaban. Memorials at the service will be read by Albus Dumbledore, of Hogwarts School, Remus Lupin, a longtime friend, and Harry Potter, Black’s godchild. All Donations are asked to be made in the name of St. Mungo’s Hospital. Cedric Diggory
Posthumous awards to be given Albus Dumbledore announced Friday that a posthumous award ceremony shall be held in honor of Cedric Diggory on Friday, August 13, at 4 pm. The ceremony will honor young Diggory’s achievements, both as a Hogwarts student and as one of the victims of You-Know-Who’s infamous return. Over a year ago, Cedric, only seventeen, and Harry Potter, the famous Boy-Who-Lived, were transported to a mysterious place where Voldemort and his Death Eaters were waiting. According to the accounts told by Potter, young Diggory faced Voldemort fearlessly, but was struck down by the feared Avada Kedavra curse. Potter’s account of Diggory’s death, which occurred on June 24, during the final task of the International Wizarding Schools’ Triwizarding Tournament, was widely disclaimed by the Ministry of Magic. According to Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, the tale was too extraordinary to be believed, even though he could not fully explain Diggory's mysterious death. Recent events at the Ministry of Magic, however, have forced Fudge and MOM to recant their former denials and accept Potter’s account as true. “With You-Know-Who returned,” says a spokesman for Fudge “the Ministry must reconsider certain occurrences that appeared false but may have been truthful.” Amos Diggory, Cedric’s father, bears no ill will towards the Ministry. “They’re just doing they’re job, and I understand that, at least. I am grateful, however, that they’ve chosen to honor Cedric in such a fashion.” The Ministry will award Diggory a posthumous Order of Merlin, 3rd class, reserved for special achievements by wizards. Dumbledore also plans to honor young Cedric by presenting his father and mother with his prefect badge, a nameplate honoring his Special Services for the School, and a portrait of Cedric which shall be placed in the Hufflepuff Common Room. The Trophy Room will also hold a special plaque for Cedric’s position as Captain and Seeker on the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team. Finally, at Harry Potter’s insistence, the Triwizarding Tournament’s Trophy will bear his and Diggory’s name conjointly as the winners. “Cedric was really the winner,” says Potter, “he deserves to be honored in every way possible. Professor Dumbledore is making me keep my name on the cup, but Cedric reached it first–he was indeed the greatest of us all.” Amos Diggory believes otherwise. “Cedric knew that Harry was a good lad. Bringing Cedric back to us shows us that he and Cedric were both the victors here.” The memorial service is open to all of the Wizarding public who wish to attend. Memorials and Eulogies honoring Cedric will be read by Albus Dumbledore, Amos Diggory, Ernie MacMillian, Cho Chang and Harry Potter. Instead of flowers, the Diggory family asks for Donations to made to The Diggory Memorial at Gringotts Bank, a program established to help the families of those harmed by You-Know-Who. |
